Pioneer in sustainability

Protecting your assets goes hand in hand with protecting our climate. We launched the first sustainable investment product back in 1998 – with conviction. Today, as a pioneer in all active traditional investment funds, we pursue a binding CO2e reduction target.

Sustainability Advisory Committee – our critical experts

The judgement of an external, independent Sustainability Advisory Committee on our sustainable investment products, in particular on the integration of environmental, social and governance aspects, and on our sustainable investment processes, supports us in the design of our sustainable investment products.

Our partnerships for a sustainable future

Net Zero Asset Manager Initiative

The Net Zero Asset Manager Initiative is an international group of asset managers who are committed to reducing greenhouse gas emissions to zero by 2050 or earlier, consistent with global efforts to limit warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius, and who support investments focused on zero emissions by 2050 or earlier. The group of more than 300 members already represents more than USD 59 trillion in assets under management today. Swisscanto joined in 2021.

Principles for Responsible Investment

The United Nations' six Principles for Responsible Investment (UN PRIs) are environmental, social and governance criteria which are relevant for financial markets. In 2009, we were one of Europe's first universal banks to sign up to the PRIs.

Swiss Sustainable Finance

Established in 2014, the mission of Swiss Sustainable Finance (SSF) is to make Switzerland one of the leading centres for sustainable finance. Zürcher Kantonalbank has been a member of Swiss Sustainable Finance since 2015.

Eurosif

By signing the European Transparency Code for Sustainability Funds, we, as a Swiss fund manager, confirm our commitment to maintaining transparency towards investors. Eurosif is a union of the national professional associations for sustainable investments at the European level.

Carbon Disclosure Project

We have been a signatory of the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) since 2005. This is a non-profit organisation that aims to create more transparency with regard to greenhouse gas emissions that are harmful to the climate.

Montréal Carbon Pledge

In 2015, we were the first Swiss bank to sign the Montréal Carbon Pledge, an investor initiative committed to disclosing the carbon footprint of our equity funds.

Access to Medicine

We have been taking into account the results of the Access to Medicine Index since 2017. This index transparently shows pharmaceutical companies that promote access to medicines.
