Precious metal funds

Invest in gold, silver, platinum and palladium with these Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs).

Gold: a first-class portfolio diversifier

Gold has a long tradition as an investment. Gold is considered to be a robust investment in times of crisis, as inflation protection, and has historically benefited from a weak USD and extreme interest rate situations. Particularly in mixed portfolios, gold regularly shines out as an excellent diversifier in volatile markets.

Shiny building blocks for a portfolio

Are you looking for a simple and secure way of investing in the precious metals gold, silver, platinum and palladium? Then focus on the right solutions with ZKB Precious Metal ETFs, because we are the market leader with the largest ETFs in the precious metal sector in Europe.

Zürcher Kantonalbank launched its first gold ETF in Europe in 2006 and in doing so sent a strong signal in terms of innovation. The ZKB Gold ETF has established itself as the largest gold ETF in Europe, underscoring our long-term commitment in this area.

With our precious metal ETFs, you can invest easily and directly in precious metals. Purchasing them is as easy as it is for shares. Our ETFs are listed on the Swiss Stock Exchange and have a high level of liquidity.

Characteristics

  • As an investment fund, our precious metal ETFs do not involve any issuer risk in accordance with Swiss law.
  • Our ETFs are 100% physically deposited, i.e. in principle you have the option of receiving physical delivery of the precious metals.
  • Storage is in Switzerland. 100% gold at Zürcher Kantonalbank in Zurich.
  • Our ETFs offer a high level of flexibility through the continuous, daily trade of fund units.
  • Availability of various share classes (USD, CHF, EUR and GBP).
  • The gold and silver ETFs are available with or without currency hedging. A daily adjustment of the currency hedging makes it possible, for example, to obtain an exact figure of the gold price in CHF.

Opportunities

  • High earnings potential.
  • 1:1 participation in the price development of precious metals via cost-effective and efficient investment instruments.
  • Precious metal ETFs support diversification in the portfolio and can offer inflation protection and security in times of crisis.
  • Precious metals represent a real value and their availability is limited by their natural occurrence.

Risks

  • Potential price fluctuations.
  • For unhedged currency classes, there is a currency risk against the US dollar.
  • For hedged currency classes, the cost of currency hedging should also be taken into account; this is primarily influenced by the corresponding difference in interest rates (for example, USD versus CHF).

Suitability

  • You require an investment with low correlation to traditional investment classes, such as equities and bonds.
  • You want certainty that the full equivalent value with the respective precious metal is physically deposited.
  • Your portfolio should be further diversified and optimised by including gold and other precious metals.
  • You require inflation protection as well as security during times of crisis.
  • Your investment horizon is the medium to long term.

High quality due to the LBMA Standard

Our ETFs only purchase gold and silver that meet the "LBMA Standard". The LBMA (London Bullion Market Assocation) sets an internationally recognised standard for bullion, e.g. in terms of weight, fineness, quality and origin. The refineries are subject to strict rules and are also regularly audited by the LBMA.

Since 2012, purchasing is done in accordance with "Responsible Sourcing". The aim is to ensure the "integrity" of global delivery chains in the physical gold and silver market and the compliance of various guidelines, for example by refineries approved by the LBMA. This must identify, among other things, risks concerning issues such as failure to respect human rights (incl. child labour) during the production, transport or trade of gold, money laundering or improper declaration of the precious metal's origin.
